Rehab & Recovery

If you are recovering from a sports injury, getting back to pre-injury performance requires specialized care. Athletic rehabilitation and sports physical therapy focus on tailored recovery, movement re-education, and progressive strengthening.

Compression Boots

Compression device designed to enhance blood flow, reduce soreness, relieve aches and enhance recovery. Compression boots are used to massage your legs, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery with pulse massage. Each session will begin on your feet then work its way to the upper quads. Who can benefit from them? Athletes can benefit by accelerating the post training recovery or as a warm up for the legs prior to exertion. Desk workers can also benefit from compression boots by avoiding stiffness, heaviness, and swelling of the legs from long hours of sitting.

Diathermic Wave Therapy

Diathermic wave therapy is a deep localized heating sensation that uses oscillatory electric current of high frequency and non-ionzing radiation. Diathermy can be used for conditions such as upper or lower respiratory conditions, sinusitis, otitis externa, muscle strains, or ligament sprains. Other benefits of diathermic wave therapy are pain and spasm releif, reduce inflammation, and improved blood circulation.

Cupping

Cupping is used to increase blood circulation, alleviate tension, decrease pain, and increase flexibility. Cupping has been known to help decrease recovery time after strenuous training. Cupping helps delay muscle soreness and help improve range of motion. There are two types of cupping that can be done. Traditional cupping which is placed on the skin to target specific areas of the body and myofascial decompression where the same technique is used but the cups are continuously moving around a broader area of the body. Both techniques are done for about 15 minutes. Cupping does leave a bruise like appearance on the skin but do not worry it will go away within 1-2 weeks.

Assisted Stretching

Everyone can benefit from stretching! If you are experiencing stiff, tight muscles a stretching session can increase your mobility. Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) is a form of stretching that is very effective in targeting specific muscle groups, releasing tension, increasing flexibility and range of motion. After the stretching session you will feel relaxed and possibly a little sore due to reaching new muscular tensions.

Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is a form of therapy used to reduce inflammation, edema, and chronic joint disorders. It also helps promote healing of wounds, deeper tissues, and nerves. Red light therapy is a way of photobiomodulation which is a therapeutic approach that uses low-intensity light, typically in the red or near-infrared spectrum, to stimulate cellular processes and promote tissue repair, regeneration, and pain relief. Red light therapy may help in skin health to stimulate collagen production which gives the skin strength, structure, and elasticity. Also increases fibroblast stimulation which makes the collagen, collagen is the connective tissue that builds tissue.

Graston

The Graston Technique® incorporates a patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively detect and treat scar tissue and restrictions that affect normal function. The Technique:  - Separates and breaks down collagen cross-links, and splays and stretches connective tissue and muscle fibers.- Breaks down scar tissue to promote healing patterns within the soft tissues. - Facilitates reflex changes in the chronic muscle holding patterns. - Increases the rate and amount of blood flow to and from the area. - Increases cellular activity in the region, including fibroblasts and mast cells.
